NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. Last week both Thursday and Saturday's matches at the Walwakalho links lapsed for want of sufficient entries. It Is hard to understand why the members of the New Plymouth Club do not take more interest in the matches provided for their amusement. The club has one of the best links to piay on in New Zealand, and with the splendid weather last week one would have expected a large number of players to take advantage thereof. Some of the visiting players Inst Monday said that if they had the samo links to play on they would be crowded both playing days, and they could not understand the lack of interest in our members. However, we hope that the members will show more enthusiasm during the rest of season. On Thursday the second St. Andrew's Cross match will be played, an don the 13th the first Saturday round of the Standish Cup competition. This cup will be competed for under similar conditions to last year, viz., match play on bogey handicaps. Tlio winners of the Thursday and Saturday competitious will play off on a day to be arranged. On Thursday, 20th Instant, the inter-club match with the Witiora Club will be played on the Walwakaiho links. Members wishing to play In this match are requested to notify the captain, Mr. Johns, as early as possible.
