THE CHURCH ARMY.
We hope there will be a ready and liberal response to the appeal of the Archdeacon of Taranaki for help towards reinstating the huts lost by the Church Army in the recent retirement. In his letter on Saturday, Archdeacon Evans showed that 55 of these huts were lost, and that each coats '£soo. He invites Taranaki to reinstate one. This should not be beyond the ability of a rich province such as this. The Church Army has, like the Y.M.C.A. and Salvation Army, done splendid work behind the lines at the front. It knows no creed, and makes no discrimination. All soldiers are welcome, the sole aim being to provide rest, food and recreation for the soldiers. The worthiness of the cause, therefore, requires no stressing. We owe it to our boys, who are undergoing such trials and risking their limbs and lives that we may live as a free people, to do anything we can to add a little comfort and brightness to their lives, and this the Church Army undoubtedly does. We will be pleased to receive and acknowledge any subscriptions towards this worthy object.
