A cable message states that Sir Rob' ert Borden (Premier of Canada) sad Mr. Massey and Sir Joseph Word have arrived, in London. ; The members of the War Pensions Board (Colonel R- J. Collins, C.M.G., Dr. Pollen, Mr. J. D. Harper, and Mr. Gj Facie, Commissioner) arrived in New Plymouth last night, and will commence its sittings at the courthouse at 10 o'clock this morning for hearing aipplioa* tions for pensions and renewals. Tub deaih ia reported from Wanganui of Mr. George Bruce, an old colonist of the district, who waa for many yean farming at Tuiukina with his brothers, one of whom was the late Mr. R. C. Bruce. ' | Lieutenant-Colonel H. E. Hart, Carterton, who has been awarded a CMIG, left as second in command of the Wellington Infantry Regiment, "Main Uody. He was mentioned in despatches twice in 1915, and was awarded the IXSjO. On 15th March, 1917, he waa appointed temporary brigadier-general, with: the command of a new brigade Prior to the war he was an officer of the 7th (Ruahine) Regiment, He saw service in the South African viax, in the nhaosvaal in 1902, and was awarded the King's Medal with two clasps. I Mr. F. Pirani, who is-ehortiy piaoeeding to England as one of the party of New Zealand pressmen invited to visit the Old Country, placed his resignation as chairman in the hands of the Wanga nui Education Board, which, however,' declined to accept it, and gave Mr. Krani leave of albsenco instead. Mr. Eraser was appointed deputy-chairman during Mr. Pirani'a albsence. These resolutions were adopted at a special meeting of the board on Wednesday, when occasion was to present Mr. Pirani with a purse of subscribed to by ©tery member of the boaetf, and others.
