PAYMENT FOR MEAT IN STORE
IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT PROVIDES THREE MILLIONS, .. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last NightRepresentations were made iby the Minister of Finance, ou behalf of the New Zealand Government, urging the Imperial Government to pay for the meat now held in store in New Zealand, on account of the Imperial Government, valued at about four millions. The accommodation is, of course, due to the acute shortage of the refrigerated shipping, which has been withdrawn and diverted from the colonial trqde. The matter was taken up by the High Commissioner of New Zealand, who now advised Mr- Myers, Acting-Minister of Finance, that the sum of three millions has been paid iby the Imperial Government to the credit of the New Zealand public account in London, on account of meat stored in New Zealand. This payment will minimise the difficulties of finance which producers had to face under the above-mentioned conditions, and will be heartily welcomed toy all interested throughout The Dominion.
