Mary Griffin and Winifred Olsen were sentenced to 12 months' reformative treatment, and the charge against Marion Elliot was dismissed. Notice of appeal was given, UNION OF CHURCHES. Wellington, Last Night. The Wellington Presbytery to night decided by ten votes to five to submit to the general assembly an overture proposed by Dr. Gibb, that the congregations be asked to vote on the question whether an effort should be made to achieve the union of the evangelical churches. TRANSPORT ARRIVES SAFELY. Wellington, Last Night. ■ The MirVer of Defence has received advice that the transport conveying the 3Gth Reinforcements, 37th Mounted Reinforcements and Wireless Troop has arrived at the port of destination. AUCKLAND TRAMWAYMEN'S DEMANDS. Auckland, Last Night. The members of the Auckland Tramways Employees' Union to-day held a secret ballot on the question of a strike. Of 510 members, 435 exercised their vote, the result being 245 in favor of a strike and 190 against, a majority of 55. A deputation of thirteen will wait on the management, to-morrow to present the demands of the men, as follows: Employees receiving below Is Id per hour to be paid 3Jd increase; from. Is Id and below Is 3d, 3d; Is 3d and over, 2|d.
