THE MOUNTAIN ROAD BOG-HOLE.
To the Editor. Sir,—l notice your correspondent in today's issue refers to the Stratford County Council reducing a hill and filling in a dip between the tollgate and Tariki, and also states that recently nine cars were stuck in the mud. A 9 one who during the progress of the work has passed that way a considerable number of times, I consider he would have been nearer the mark if he had made the number ninety. The damage sustained by cars must be pretty extensive, Three broken springs were my portion, and I feel confident that others have suffered to a like degree, if not worse. My chief reason for writing is to put this work of art on the right shoulders, viz., the Taranaki County Council, as our engineer has had quite enough to trouble him in county matters without saddling this exceptionally brilliant piece of engineering upon him.—l am, etc., SCRUTATOR. Stratford, June 3.
