DEGRADING, SAVAGE SENTIMENTS.
To the Editor. &ir,—The enclosed poetic gem (?) whidh is copied from the American magazine, "The World's Work," is, for its sentiments, worthy, I think, of the widest circulation. ,'Liasauer's "Hymn of Hate'' is of a brutal but poor and commonplace type as comparc-d with the polished vileness of, this production which is the composition of Ivan Arnondoff, the Bulgarian Minister for Education. The most savage of the tribes of the North American Indians, or the most degraded Zulu or Hottentot, might conceive such villany, but it has teen left to tho kultured European, to commend it in poiished verse.—l am, etc.,
The Sun has risen on the horizon I'od with the blood of all our Foes, For what dost wait my young Bulgarian? Raise hig'h thy hands that t.hou'maYst bless WiWi blessings that a Igad in Wood Drive t'hy hand in womb of Women young And rouse to jealousy e'en Lucifer himself. ! Before the Sun has risen higih in sky, Let lakes of blood from thine own sword rise also high As dewy vapours rise at dawn to Heaven's King Let bloody vapours rise round thee' A fragrance for tho Gods. Pee the old Man! Feebly he totters on Dragging out decrepid ago, Yet death he would escape, and file thy courage. But stamp him underfoot, and with thy fork Gouge out his troubled eyes— Not worthy they a Bulgar's greatness to beholdGivo him hie eves to eat, Threes, days he's had not moat or drink. For what dost wait young Bulgar? Onward, Onward, Onward! Bodieg all velvet, soft of babes and Mothers Malce carpet softer far than April sward, But taste thou first their morning dew, By force from their freadi youth take pleasure Drink and intox-icate thy soul (Take thou the fruit, then hurl the peel away, And forward stride on human carpet royal. Let press thv horses hoof On Woman's bosom soft Lest that same milk should nourish hostile sons. Onward, ever onward.
