THE EMPIRE. PINAL OF LOCKWOOD COMEDY TO-DAY. To-day, at 2 o'clock, and again to-night, the current programme at the Empire will receive Us final screenings. Motion picture "fans" will And a number of their favorites in Harold; Lockwood's Metro wonderplay, "The Square! Deceiver," .an adaptation of Francis Perry Elliott's novel, "Love Me for Myself Alone." Har- ! old Lockwood, of course, heads the cast in the i character of Billy van Dyke. Lockwood, as j everyone knows, is one of the screen's most j I popular Btars, and is recognised as everybody's I favorite. In the leading feminine role—that lof Beatrice Forsythe, the "wonder girl"—ap- ! pears Pauline Curley, a dainty, golden-haired : 'beauty who is rapidly winning a name for | I herself. "The Square* Deceiver" is a really good film, and is supported by other good subjects, chief among which is "Pee o' the Illas." MONDAY—"SUDDEN JIM." * | i For Monday's change a new Triangle feature will head the bill. This picture, undor the j title of "Sudden .Turn," stars Charles Kay and j Sylvia Bremer us the lovers. "Sudden Jim" is j from the popular novel of the «ame name by | ClATence Budington Kellard. The story Is a breezy, rattling one of a flglit for success waged in grim erncat, and in addition is a masterly love romance. EVERYBODY'S. MARRIED LIFE. Marriage and Its problems form the main threads of the plot of "Husband and Wife," the World film drama now screening at Everybody's. The cast i 3 of quite unusual strength. Ethel Clayton is in the lead, supported by Holbrook Blinn, Montague Love, Gerda Holmes, Dion Titheradge. and little Madge Evans. Ethel j Clayton is unsurpassed in the role of the I young bride, and in this story she portrays a : J girl who has married a man who has to live: jon his salary. Her tastes are expensive, and ' !she has no sense of the value of money, and' ihe has not the courage to deny her anything. The result is Inevitable. He begins to speculate with the bank funds. The young wife is loved by a young and wealthy man, who, however, plays the game, and he comes to the rescue In dramatic fashion. Supports include "The Girl and the Game" No. 11, "War Budget," "Japanese Gardens," and a brilliant L.Ko, comedy, entitled "The Balled-up Ball." VAUDEVILLE AT EVERYBODY'S. JAMES AND VERA BAIN. James and Vera Bain, the noted vaudeville artists, appear at Everybody's next Tuesday and Wednesday. The box plan for the New Plymouth season ia now open at Collier's.
