MINISTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH

VISIT TO TARANAKI. The Hon. G. W. Russell, Minister for Public Health, is at present on a visit to Taranaki. Yesterday be visited Hawera, and consulted with the members of the Hospital Board He afterwards visited the fish hatcheries at the Wraiongona. He then proceeded to Eltham, whero he was welcomed by Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M P., with whom ho met the members of the Borough Council, and conferred with them on various matters, and was entertained by them to dinner. Later in the day he visited Stratford, and met the Hospital Board, and also addressed a deputation from the Borough Council. The Minister arrived in New Plymouth by the mail train last night. He was met by Mr. H. J. Okey', M.P., the Mayor II. Burgess), and Mr. E. Holden (secretary of the Taranaki Hospital Board). To-day Mr. Russell will meet the Hospital Board at 10 o'clock, and will receive some other deputations on departmental matters. The Minister returns to Wellington on Saturday, and on Tuesday next he leaves for Auckland, where he will deliver an address to northern manufacturers and producers on New Zealand's aiter-tbe-war problems.
