,£ORU. Koru, Slay 28. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A welcome-home social wa.s tendered Air. K. C. Kaill in the Koru Hall on Friday, 24-th inst., and, in spite of the night. which must have made our guest think lie was back again on the Western front, & very fair crowd turned up, and a real jolly little turn-out was the result. everybody doing his or her best to make things go- During the evening songs were rendered by Airs. Barber, Air. Mercalf, and a Norwegian song by Air. Hanson, Air Englefield giving several comic recitations of his own composing, which were very much appreciated. After supper, on behalf of the settlers, a case of razors was presented to Mr. Rail], Air. Englefield making the presentation with a neat little speech. The recipient, who looks very well, in spite of shrapnel splinters, suitably responded, and three hearty cheers were given him, and the usual "For He's n. -folly Good Fellow." The evening was brought to a close about 2-30 by tho company joining hands and singing 'Till the Boys Come Home." Air. Good supplied t-lio music. The local creamery is closing this wo; k for the season, and will very likely open again next season with several 1111 -re supplies, so many farms having changed hands lately. Mr. Taylor moved into Air. Gleig's this week. Air. Bellsha-w into Air. A['G-re.?or's. A!r. Bectham into Air. TARATA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Tarata, May 30 Quite, a large number of the Tarata and Kaimata settlers turned up at tlie Tarata Hall last Monday to 6id farewell -to Air and Airs. Ncilsen and family. Mr. Xeilsen lias sold his farm and is going to Otakeho, where he has bought another farm. Air. E. J. Ible, in a very neat, speech, presented Air. and Mrs. Neilsen with a silver tea set and tray, j He expressed sorrow at losing Mr. and I Airs Neilsen and family from the district. They had always been very hard workers and helpers, and would be sorely | missed. Air. Sutherland (Inglewoodj, Air. Street, and F. J. Eggleton also spoke, and Wished Air and Airs. Neilsen and family every success. Air. Xeiisen very suitaibly replied, and (hanked all for their kindness. He appreciated it very much indeed, and would iook back on his stay at Tarata with very pleasant memories. "For He s a Jolly Good Fellow'' was very heartily sung. The music for (Tie dance was supplied by Messrs Stockman and .1. Sutherland, of Inslewood. while Air. Atat. Alartir, | made a very efficient AI.C. Air. ,1. ■ i-utherhiiid also contributed two songs.
