A well-dressed little girl, aged 14j5 years, was charged at the Wangamii Magistrate's Court on Monday, before Mr J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., with breaking and entering a house at Moastown road, and stealing jewellery and clothing to the value of £24 129 6d. The evidence showed that the accused obtained access to the house by a bathroom window, and on the second occasion stole tftiree broodies and two rings. She then Weni; to the pictures. The girl was quite out of control. Most of the articles had been recovered, but a diamond and ruby ring was still missing. The father said he was a labourer, earning £3 a week. Ho had three other daughters. He was milking 14 cows, but they were not all his, and further, he had a mortgage to pay off. The girl was committed to the Roman Catholic Receiving Home at Wellington.
