ENTERTAINMENTS.

HAROLD LOCKWOOD TO-NIGHT. AT THE EMPIRE. Harold Lockwood has been seen in romantic drama, melodrama and farce, and in "The Square Deceiver," his la* test Metro wonderplay, which the management of the Empire Theatre has hooked for a three night, season, commencing to-night, we find him playing a comedy role. True, there are impressive dramatic moments in which Mr Lockwood figures in "The Square Deceiver,'' but for the most part his role .of Billy Van Dyke is a comedy character —not the broad kind but of the light and breezy variety. "The Square Deceiver" is described by Francis Perry Elliott, the author of the novel, "Love Me | for Myself Alone," from which tho photoplay .was adapted, as a joyous .comedy of youth and love. Billy Van 'Dyke, the principal character, is a "multimillionaire society man, who, in order to learn if his "dream-girl'' loves him for himself alone, poses as a chauffenv. By his action he upsets the carefully laid plans of one particularly designing mother and thrusts himself, into a whirl of surprising action. Supporting this big feature arc "Peg o' the Ring" No. ■IS, Lady Detective" (comedy), "Co-op. Weekly War News" and "Small Cat Animals" (Nature Study). DOUBLE 'PROGRAMME AT EVERYBODY'S TO-NIGHT. To-night at 7.50, at the above theatre, a big double programme will be screened. The first picture will be the Triangle special release, entitled "Chicken'Casey," in which Dorothy Daiton is featured. The second part of the programme will be devoted to the William Fox superfeature, entitled "The Broadway Sport,'' an original and novel sort of comedydrama in which the popular actor, .Stuart. Holmes, is starred. These two big features combined, make «p one of the strongest and most interesting programmes yet seen locally. Patrons are reminded that the overture is at 7.50 ii.ni.
