In response to the Archbishop of Cologne's protests against aerial bombardments, the IPope has made renewed recommendations to the belligerents to abandon this method of warfare. —United Press. NAVAL AIRMEN'S ACTIVITY. BELGIAN TOWNS BOMBED. Received May 28, 8.15 p.m. London, May 28. The Admiralty reports that between May 23 and 26 the naval airmen's operations were hindered by weather, nevertheless they bombed Marsakarke and Zeebrugge. The bombs fell near the lock gates. They also dropped nearly three tons of bombs on Bruges dock on the 22nd. In home waters numerous flights were carried out. Submarines were sighted and attacked and enemy mines located. Allied aircraft successfully bombed the Austrian base at Cattaro, obtaining direct hits, also the barracks occupied by submarine crews, where a fire started.— Aus. X.Z. Cable Assoc. and Reuter. AIR RAID SCARE IN GERMANY. London, May 27. The newspapers publish official photographs showing the huge Red Cross protecting the Thionvillc aerodrome. Air raid scares continue in western Germany, notably at Aix-la-Chappclle and Cologne.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. ZIvEBRUGGE RAIDS ADMITTED. Amsterdam, May 27.
