ATTACK ON LIEGE. Received May 27 7J50 p.mAmsterdam, May 26. A recent Allied air raid at Liego destroyed German military works and railways. Twenty-six persons were killed; r-Reuter. FARMERS' UNION. CONFERENCE IN AUCKLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The provincial conference of the Farmers' Union opened to-night, and carried remits from the executive as follows: That the occupiers of national endowment land be granted the option of the freehold, and all lands be thrown open on these terms, the proceeds to be reinvested for the benefit of the objects for which they had been endowed; that the Government be urged to push forward afforestation, especially with regard to quick-growing trees; that the Government be urged to proceed at the earliest possible moment with a scheme for harnessing the water power of the Dominion. Another remit carried affirmed the need for an improvement in the system of government, and called on the National Government to deal with the qnestion of inaugurating means for improvement. It was resolved to call public in the cities and country districts, with the object of having Parliamentary representation discussed by all sections of the-community.
