Sangster lias received a letter from Mr. James MTutosh, lion, treasurer of the Aotca Convalescent Home (Egypt), from Wellington, in which he acknowledges receipt of a letter with hank deposit for :CVli). which iie had placed to the credit of the Aotea Home, and was writing to the Home, Heliopolis, advising her of the Stanley road generous donation. The letter addthat such kind appreciation of the work of the Home is very helpful and will be much valued.by the ladies who are carrying on the work. They also appreciate iho intimation of a present of butter. Tile executive expressed its grateful thanks for the generous donation and the ikndly interest taken in the Home.

The slips on the railway line near Whangamornona are giving more trouble than was anticipated- It is now expected that through communication may not be possible for two or three Java yet. Rain is still falling, and this will delay clearing operations, even if it does not bring down more papa. Gangs are out making every effort to clear the railway. Word also comer, through that the main road is blocked in places.

The committee appointed by the A. and P. Association to complete arrangements for the concert and dance report good progress. Eltham will do better as the season advances The card players of Stratford having formed into clubs, are now considering the question of playing for a trophy. Newton, who has taken Mr. Swain into partnership at the Eureka Garasre. has a change advertisement in this issue, relating to cars and tyres for which the firm are agents. The long winter evenings are to handSo those who find time tedious will be pleaded to learn that Mr. C. E James has just opened tip some fine winter pastimes—games that will instruct the child and interest the parent. Those who enjoy a good hook can obtain great variety here, whilst if in search of a noliday. wedding, or christening gift, you will certainly find same amongst the many thousands of articles on sale at C.
