ALLIES CONFIDENT. SPEECH BY BRITISH PREMIER. SHIPPING OUTPUT IMPROVING. London, May 24. Mr. Lloyd George, speaking at Edinburgh, said that on the eve of the great attack the Allies were supremely confident. The United. States armies as yet were unable to do more than offset onefifth of the strength that Germany had obtained from the Russian front.
