EFFICIENCY BOARD.
MEETING OF LOCAL TRUSTEES. Tho usual weekly meeting of the New Plymouth trustees of the National Efficiency Board was held yesterday. Present: Messrs T. Furlong (chairman), E. Whittle, and F. J. Hill (secretay). The trustees dealt witfh a good deal of correspondence, including a letter from Mr. T- Moss, commissioner for the Wellington district, who stated, interalia, that he hopedy shortly to arrange a meeting of the Taranaki Board of Trustees, and thought it would be advisable to have a representative of tho Military Service Board present.
Letters were also received from two pastoralists asking for assistance in procuring the services of capable men to net in a responsible position during the •vbsence of the landownersSome ten cases were submitted to the hoard fcr review and consideration. The majority were applicants for linan?al assistance, an;' others referred to domestic and other matters incidental to soldiers' affairs. Tho trustees considered all tho cases, and imad» recommendations accordingly. The board reported on all the sine die cases submitted to them that wili come before the Military Court shortly. Mr. Rowlands, country trustee, also submitted a report he made at the request of the iocut hoard.
Messrs Hill and Whittle, who attended a conference at Stratford last week, furnished a report of the proceedings. T'.ie commissioner, Wellington, also wrote acknowledging receipt of an article sent by the chairman on "How Labor Will Be Supplied," and for which he sent his thanks.
