THE WREOK OF THE HARRIET.

To the Editor. Sir,—The Harriet was wrecked 011 April 29, 1934, and at that time the lata Te Whiti would be about four years of age. It was a good imyiy years after that that he was living with the late Mr. Wellington Carrington, on his farm at Tapuae, working as a farm lad, and at that peTiod lie was simply a common man of no rank and showing 110 signs of the powers which, later in life, gained for him command over an important section of his ra.ce. Ido not, at the moment, recollect the name of the chief who interposed and saved the lives of Captau Guard and his crew, but fancy that there is a narrative of the occurrence in the late Mr. B. Wells' "History of Taranaki." I am, etc., PAKBHA.
