AUSTRALIA'S TOTAL LOANS. Melbourne, May 23. Tn tho Hourb of Representatives, Mr. Watt, in moving the second reading of the War Loan Bill, said the war loans raised in the Commonwealth amounted to £148,425,110, and in the United Kingdom to £49,082,059. The total indebtedness of the Common-wealth was £240.199,940. The total nmounts loaned, or to be loaned, to the States for public works during war time was £34,974,000. The repatriation expenditure would be met out of revenue. In reply to a question, Mr. Watt said the holding of the captured German territory in the Pacific was vital to the interests of Australia. The Government was negotiating with a neutral country for the sale of 20,000 tons of Australian wheat.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. ENLISTMENT OF YOUTHS. Melbourne, May 23. In the House of Representatives, Mr. Tudor moved condemning the Government for enlisting for service abroad youths under age without obtaining their parents' consent.
