MR. N. FULTON FAREWELLED. Knowing that Mr. N. Fulton, who has been connected with he Dairy Division of the Agricultural Department for the past six years, was about to leave for camp, a number of. the Jersey breeders of Stratford and North Taranaki entertained. him to afternoon tea at the Kia Ora tea rooms on Tuesday afternoon. Mr. E. Griffiths, in presenting Mr. Fulton, on behalf of those present, with a suitably inscribed wristlet watch, with luminous dial, referred to the live interest their guest had taken in the semiofficial testing, of which he had charge, and said that his enthusiasm had communicated itself to others with beneficial results. He had also created a certain amount of history here, as two New Zealand records hud been put up by cows that ho was testing—Curtis Estate's Madam Mayilower having put up 7031b of fat. the record for aged coivs, whilst Mr. E. Gritnths' Lady Peggy, with 6501b, had created a record for cows over 2 and under 3 years old. Other speakers also paid high ribute to their guest's work. Mr. Fulton, in reply, said it was very gratifying to him to realise that the Jersey breeders had appreciated the manner in which he had carried out his duties. There were some very fine Jerseys in the North Island, and his observations tended to show that the cows that made high records were those that had been reared under liberal conditions. Unless the war interfered with his return to work under the Agricultural Department, lie would follow up with keen interest the doings of the high producing cows and their progeny that he had been associated with. Mr. Fulton left for camp by the mail train yesterday morning.
