INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Inglewood, May 21. Donations to the gift auction in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund are still coming in well. Mr| Burwell's list consists of £IG cash, 1 porker, 12 weaner calves, 1 sack of potatoes, and 1 sack of pumpkins. Mr. Ritchie's list has £2 7s in cash, 3 sheep and 1 pig. Mr. H. Olson's list has £5 Ss in cash and one 20month heifer. Mr. lleesby's list has £2 17s in cash. The. Plunket nurse (Miss Wake) is in Stratford, and will be visiting Inglewood at an early date. Motorists are having a very trying experience on the road near Tariki. As usual, when regrading is decided upon, the work is invariably left until rain is expected, so that the state of the road in the locality mentioned is by no means [ ancnimnon. On Tuesday afternoon (toj day) one motor was observed practically half buried in mud, with half a dozen men trying to extract it, while others were standing by, afraid to tackle it, and i a motor with a load of furniture from N T ew Plymouth had to return. The state of affairs is a disgrace to the local body concerned, as there is certainly no reason or excuse for a road to be left in such a state.
