PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS. '•WE MUST WIN THE WAR." • TEUTONS UNTRUSTWORTHY. Keceived May 20, 8.45 p.m. New York, May 19. President Wilson, addressing the Red Cross demonstration, said: "We must win the war and win it greatly. No limit need bo placed on the men sent to France, so all would be sent that ships could be found to carry. The United States was unable to trust the Teutons, as they had found them to be insincere. They intended, therefore not only to stand by France, but also by Russia. Nothing had for a hundred years so united the nations as the present cause.
THE PITTSBURG EXPLOSION. A BIG DEATH ROLL. Received May 20, 9.25 p.m. New York, May SO. It is estimated the killed in the Pittsburg explosion will be at least two hun dred.
A large area was wrecked. The rescuers were handicapped by the noxious gasses and heat. The debris was thrown to great distances. Many of those wounded may die. There were many explosions in quick Succession. Some of the rescuers perished.—Press Association.
MEAT RATIONS. REDUCED IN GERMANY. ' Received May 20, 9.25 p.m. Washington, May 19. Mr. Hoover has announced that the German nleat ration has befiii reduced from 225 grammes to 150 grammes for each person weekly. The wheat ration in Saxony and Wittenburg has been reduced from 250 to 150 grammes per day. This is the result of the American embargo against neutrals. The meat rations in England and France have been kept up to from 24 to 30 ounces, due to supplies sent from America.—Press Association.
AMERICA'S HUGE ARMY. London, May 18. Mr. Charles Russell, the American publicist and a personal friend of President Wilson, was entertained at liinch in London, and announced that America would have ten million men Under arms by the end Of the year. —Aus.
