On the same day at the WaiwaJraiho yards I conducted Mr. O. O. Hawke'a dispersal sale of pedigree jerseys. There was a large a tendance of buyers, but the condition of the cattle was disappointing to many. Under the circumstances a very satisfactory sale \*as held. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report:— At Ngatea.—Dairy cows sold at from £7 to £l3 10s, empty cows to £6 15a, steer oalves £2 15a to £4 Is, lieifer calves £1 5s to £3 15s. Heifers to calve July-August were in keen demand, best selling at £lO 10s to £ll 12s, others £5 7s Cd to £lo. Large yarding. Beef was penned in good numbers, and gold well up to late quotations. On Thursday last at Westfield, and on Friday at Warkworth, there were average yardings. Best dairy cows sold at from £l3 to £lB 17s 6d, others £9 to £l2 15s, aged and inferior £3 to £8 10s. Empty cows and heifers £5 10s to £8 ss, weaner calves £1 to £4 ss, yearlings to 18-month steers £5 Zs 6d to £7 as,ditto, heifers £4 to £6 16s, bulls to £ls 15s. Sheep: Ewes, in latnb 8b to £1 2s 4d, 4 and 6-th ewes 12s 4d, store wethers 12s 9s to 15s Gd. -
At Albert Yards on Friday about the average number of horses were yarded. Best heaty £2l to £3O ss, medium draughts, £ls to £23 10s, light harness Sorts and hacks £7 to £l6 2s 6d.
On Monday at Henderson dairy cows sold up to £ls for the best, empty, cows £3 5h to £7 10s, steer calves £2 5s to £3 15s, heifer calves 17s 6d to £3 12s 6d, 2 to 21-year steers £9 ss, bulls to £io 10s.
At Pukekohe, oil Tuesday, test dairy cows and heifers sold at from £l3 10s to £lB, others £8 5s to £l3, backward £5 10s to £ll 15a, inferior and aged £4 10s to £7 log. Grown steers £l2 to £l4 3s, 3 to 3{-year-old steers £lO 5s to £l2 17s. fid, 2 to 2J-year-old steers £7 15s to £lO ss, yearling to 18-month steers £4 18s to £7 17s Cd, ditto, heifers £4 2s Gd to £6 17s Gd. Weaner calves of good quality £2 10s to £4 4s, others £1 to £2 6s, weedy calves 12s 6d upwards. Empty cows and heifers £6 to £8 12s fid. Bulls £7 10s to £ls 12s 6d. Beef was yarded in large numbers, mostly of good quality, and sold at fully Westfield prices, steers making up to , £l6 17s Gd, cows to £ls. Fat ewes and ' wethers 335, wethers 34s 9d, ewes 25s Gd. At Westfield, on Wednesday, choice ox sold to £2 9s per 1001b, others £2 6s to £2 Bs, cow and heifer beef from £2 to £2 Gs. Steers sold at from £l3 10s to £2O ss, cows alid heifers £7 10s to £ls 17s Gd, bulls to £l7 10s. Calves were penned in large numbers, selling at late rates. Runners made from £5 to £8 15s for a nice 15-month heifer, heavy vealers £3 12s Gd to £4 17s Gd, medium £2 15s to £3 10s, light £1 4s to £2 10s, small and fresh-dropped 5s to £l. Sheep were penned in full numbers, and sold at late rates. Wethers: IPrime sold at from 34s Gd to £1 17s {td (no exceptionally heavy-weights , yarded): others £1 9s to £1 14s, Prime ewes £1 10s to £1 14s 9d others £1 5s to £1 9s 9d, inferior 10s 9d to 24s 6d. lambs were penned in average numbers, and sold about equal to late rates. Best £1 8s to £1 16s, medium £1 2s to £1 7s fid, others 15s 3d to £1 Is. Pigs: A large yarding and consequently prices a little easier. Choppers and heavy baconere £4 3s to £5 lGs, small baconers £3 10s to £4 2s. Porkers, large £2 10s to £3 9s, small and medium £1 12s to £2 15g, Slips 15s to £l, weaners 7s Gd. FARMERS' CO-OP. WEEKLY REPORT Opunake Yards: Cattle sold at late rates, and weaners were in better demand than at previous sales.
