The Defence Department last week is-_, sued an official summary of the casualties of the members of the Australian Imperial Forces reported by cable, showing the totals from the date of embarkation of the forces up to and including the week ended to-day. The figures are as follow: Dead 45,097 ~ Missing 497 ,i Prisoners of war 2,935 Wounded 122,133 Siek 70,433 Casualty not specified 214 Total 241,309 The figures for dead, missing, prisoners of war, and casualties not specified represent the actual net totals after all corrections consequent upon erroneous and later advices, etc., have been taken into account. The figures for wounded and sick represent the total reported by cable, and are in excess of the actual number of men affected because many are admitted to hospital more than once.
