VACANCIES FOR OFFICERS. NOT ENOUGH TO GO ROUND. MOST ENTER CAMP AS SERGEANTS By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Minister of Defence said to-day that it was very unfortunate that the Defence Department could not find room for all the commissioned Territorial officers as officers, as a number of men who had seen service were returning to New Zealand with commissions to join reinforcement drafts. Several of the Territorial officers concerned volunteered. Some were accepted, other applications were delayed, and some entered camp, being eager to get away, but, owing to the reduction in the percentage of the reinforcements, had to be held back.
