THE SEDITION SENTENCES.
A CHRISTCHURCH RESOLUTION. ■ By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. At tho conclusion of a meeting of the Christchuroli Second Division League tonight the following motion was carried unanimously, with applause: That thia,' meeting of the Christchurch Second Division League, having full knowledge of all the circumstances connected with the' sedition cases and convictions arising out of the recent public meeting, is etrongly of opinion that the action taken servists to resist authority, but was inwas not meant as an incitement to re> tended to be addressed to the Government, with the object of hurrying an immediate betterment of the conditions; of service, and would earnestly urge upon the Minister of Justice that clemency should be shown to the offenders, and the remainder of their sentences remitted,
The chairman (Mr. R. A. Armstrong, Wellington) said it had been his opinion all along that thoy did not intend tor ini duco reservists to resist. It was further decided that the chair-: man he empowered to present the resolution to the Minister of Justice, aftd to endeavor to get the stigma of sedition removed from tho men's records.
