KAPONGA SECOND DIVISION LEAGUE.

To the Editor. Sir, —Will you kindly allow me space to reply in short to "Class C's" letter re Kapoi"ja Second Division League. "Class G" takes exception to our motion, declaring we were not in favor of inducing the Government to concede the Gs per day for a wife's separation allowance. Granting that no monetary consideration will compensate for the sacrifices that a man must make in order to answer his country's call and to liia wife's children, some consideration must be given to the man that has to pay the bill. Don't make it so hot that it is going to cripple him to such an extent that he will not be able to pay. Prices for our produce are high at present, but what it will be after the war no one can venture to guess. A little discretion is often advisable. The war is not over vet and at present the war indebtness of New Zealand stands at £40,000,000 or over, and the end is not in sight. "Class C admits that he has not taken any interest in the S. D. L. movement hitherto. Well, sir, I am glad indeed to know that he has awakened at last and is willing to take a hand. This same gentleman, I am inclined to think, is like a good many more—thought he would never be wanted, so didn't bother; was quite content to let the other fellow do that, but I am glad indeed that he has awakened to his responsibilities at last and i that he, and a great many more like> him, will roll up to a general meeting to be called shortly, and I will promise him that he will have an interesting time. Some months ago I called s. general meeting of the League and only one member turned up over and above the executive, who have honestly endeavored to do their duty, and from a duty point of view only and not as "Class C" implies re our motion, that we are considering it»from the ineligible's point of view only.—l am, etc., E. D. DAGG, Hon. Secretary.
