GOLF.

The New Plymouth Golf Club commenced this season's matches on Saturday, April 20, when a mixed foursome bogey match was played, which was won by Mrs. Johns and F. G. Newenham with 6 down.

This week's matches will comprise a medal match on Thursday and on Saturday the first St. Andrew's Cross match. Inter-club matches, which have so far been arranged for this Beason to be played on the Waiwakaiho links, are: Versus Inglewood on May 30, Hawera on June 3, and Witiora on June Members wishing to play in inter-club matcheß are requested to notify the secretary as early as possible. The club has now lost the services of its professional, Mr. Lock, who has taken the position of caretaker and professional to the Hawera Club. Mr. Croker, of New Plymouth, has been appointed caretaker in his place.
