APPRECIATION OF MR. LLOYD GEORGE.

NAPIER HAS SPOKEN. By Telegraph—Preso Association. Napier, Last Night. A large number of Napier business j men, also several ladies, assembled at the Borough Council Chambers this afternoon as the result of the calling of a meeting for the purpose of passing some resolution of appreciation and approval of the actions of Mr. Lloyd George, Premier of England. The Mayor explained that the object of the meeting was to pass a motion of support to the English Premier, who \#as doing so much to direct the Empire in this great world struggle. Mr. P. S. M'Lcan said they all recognised in Mr. Lloyd Georgo a great leader. Mr. Lloyd George had firas to fight the democrats; secondly, he had had a long fight in the House of Commons, where those of antagonistic feeling seemed indifferent to the walfare of the country. Still, these troubles-came up, and this meeting was to approve of his lSfet victory. In the last few months he had breasted two serious attacks, one by Mr. Asauith, who made a seemingly unanswerable speech. Secondly, a more serious attack from Major-General Maurice, whose charge wag one of falsehood, fraud, and wilful opposition. A motion of appreciation from swell a democratic country as this would be of perhaps greater value to the Premier than from any otfher country. He then moved as follows: —"We, the citizens of !Xlapier, des'ire to express onr wholehearted appreciation of your nonparty, efforts in the condiict of .this war. We have viewed with admiration your exertions, which we trust will be allowed to continue until victory is attained."

The wtotion was! then put by the Mayor and carried unanimously amidst acclamation. The tMayor then suggested to forward the motion to the Premier of England. The motion was carried, and a collection -was taken up to par the cost of the cablegram, which is he-/ intf sent to Sir James Allen for despatch to England.
