CHRYSANTHEMUM TEA.
SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION AT BELL BLOCK. The Bell Block Ladies' Patriotic Sewing Guild held a chrysanthemum tea on Thursday afternoon in aid of the Blind Soldiers' Fund. There was a fine collection of blooms, and these, with tha 'beautiful autumn leaves, made an attractive display. The arranging of tho flowers and the sale of blooms was in the hands of the Misses Ida Potc and Ivy Street. Their efforts were most successful, and they are deserving of praise for the result obtained. The show was opened by Mr. E. King, who, in an appropriate speech, welcomed the visitors, who were present from as far as New Plymouth and >Jsraere, and also congratulated the Bell Block ladies on the beautiful show arranged. The provisions for the afternoon tea were supplied by t'ho ladies, and the sweets stall did very_ good business. Tn the evening a euchre party was held, followed by a dance. '.£ he music for the dance was provided by Mrs. 1\ Holmes, the Misses Pote, O. Giddy, and Marsh. The guessing competitions were won as follows:—Camisole (realised £5), won by Mr*. A. Haskill: pnrebred rooster (realised .-011, won by Mrs. Grover • tsMe centre {l2? 6d), Mr«, ST. Rundle; crochet collar (*2% 8d), Mrs. G- Hoby. A case of pipes sold by Dutch amotion hrousht £5, being finally bought by Mr. K. King for 255.
