OF IjOCAL PiOART). A meeting of the New Plymouth Board of Trustees-under the National EfDclency Board, consisting of Messrs T. Furling (chairman), E. Whittle, and F. / Hill (secretary), was held yesterday moj-niug. The business transacted consisted mainly of dealing with the affairs of soldiers and others applying for financial assistance. Three female applicants waited on the board for advice concerning tbeir position while their sons were serving with the Colors. A good deal of correspondence was read and dealt with. One important letter regarding the repatriation of soldiers who desire to take up fanning work was considered. Altogether eight cases came under review, and the trustees also reviewed appeals adjourned sine die at the last sitting of the Military Pel-vice Board. Messrs ,T. S. Connett and J. Rowlands, country trustees, furnished lengthy reports on the condition of certain lands ft hich IDie Xew Plymouth board had been requested to report upon. A meeting of the Efficiency Trustees for tlio Taranaki province will be held 5 n Stratford on Monday next at 10 30 a m., for the purpose of considering matters in connection with the calliy? up of further drafts of reservists. The local office, owing to the trustees attending this meeting, will be open on that, day between .1 and 4 p.m., instead of the usual >:ovtr, 11 to 12.
