BOWLING.

NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. CLOSE QtF SEASON. The formal closing of the 'New Plymouth Club for the season took place yesterday, when tlie usual nrntch between teams selected by the President and Vice-president was played. Although the weather was not ideal lor bowling, there being somo rain during the afternoon, there was a good attendance of bowlers, five rinks .being occupied. The three town ehibs were well represented. An interesting game resulted in a win for the President by the narrow margin of 2 points. The President (Mr. W. F. Brooking), in formally closing the green, remarked that the Reason had been a quiet one. New Plymouth had won the banner early in the season, and lost it to Pihama at the close of the season. He briefly referred to the enjoyable centre tournament, which had been won by Abbott (Fitzroy). The club's championship cup last year had been won outright by Mr. Fookcs. The committee bad decided to replace it with a shield, Mr. C. JT. Johnson having generously agreed to donate the woodwork and Mr. Garnliam the silver work, provided the club found the necessary plate. The championship this vear had been won by E. Barv and the handicap singles by H. Smart. Details of the game are as follow, the President's team being mentioned first:— Carter. Roberts, Lee. Abtfott (a.) 24 v. Hooper, T. Avery, Hill, A, K.
