GERMAN PROPAGANDA. ANi EXPENSIVE LUXURY. Paris, May 7. The prosecution of the Bonnet Rouge rase lias closed. It is expected that at least a hundred witnesses will be called for the defence. M. Marohand, interpreter, gave cvi- ■ dence that the German Press Bureau lias spent 12'/ 2 millions sterling in two years upon a journalistic offensive, particularly in Switzerland and Denmark, whence it engineered propaganda producing disastrous results in Italy and Russia. M. Marcliand added that between May, 1916, and August, 1917. a hundred articles in the Bonnet Rouge were republished in the infamous Gazette-des-Jardins, published by Germany to undermine the morale of the French in the occupied districts.—Aus-NZ. CaWe Assoc. COMMERCIAL CONVENTION'S DEMANDED. Paris, May 7. The Cabinet has denounced all commercial conventions containing a genera! clause regarding most favored nations. This is regarded as a further economic menace against Germany.
