ADDRESS BY FEDERATION IFRESM DENT. ~l'Z 3 ' By Telegraph.—Press Association.: Timaru, Last Night. The Lyceum Theatre last night was packed by an orderly gathering of members of the Second Division and women. The Mayor (Mr. Maling) presided, and Messrs J. Craigie and J. Anstey, M.SP., were present. Mr. R. A. Armstrong, president of the National Federation, gave a long address andwas frequently applauded. He etat. Ed it was intended to hold a Dominion conference at Wellington on 22nd inet, and a delegation would wait ion Ministers to ask that the requests of tie Second Division be given effect to, in justice to dependents, and if the Mtadsters say the proposal is unsound they will be asked to submit a better scheme-. The delegation would demand a dgfedte statement and would accept no indafettte promise. This statement was loud&>»nplouded. Resolutions were passed in effeftt-oS follows: (1) Demanding that the Ghn eminent immediately grant the demands of the League; (2) the wife and chflften' of Second Division reservists on ao&ti ! service shall have the same right to at decent living and comfort as is enjoyed! by the wife and children if they atey at home;' (8) whilst a strong feeling exists in favor of a general ejection, thd meeting urged the Government to adopt a less disturbing course, namely, a refer* endum on the Second Division Zauns requests.
