OUTBREAK AT CABLE OFFICE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, May H. At 4.20 yesterday morning an incipient tire was discovered in an attic of the Eastern Extension Cable Company's office in this city. The flames were quickly extinguished by the officer in 'charge, and the damage done was negligible. But for its early discovery, the fire might have done serious damage to fh" plant, the value of which can scarcely be estimated at the present moment. The cause of the fire is a mystery,which the police, are endeavoring to solve. It is only four years since the Cable Company's premises at Wakapuaka- were destroyed !by fire under mysterious circumstances.
