A BRITISH K'ETJRKMENT. London, May 0. Tho British have captured 1000 "Turks and Germans in Palestine in a few days. The British, have retired from'Es Salt towards the Jordan.—Aust.-N.Z. Cable Association. BRITISH CAPTURES. Received May 7, 11.30 p.m. London, May 0. Palestine official: —Our advanced posts holding Es Salt have been withdrawn over the Jordan, a strong detachment remaining on the .eastern banks and securing the crossing's. We captured eastward of the Jordan between April 30 and May 4 one German and forty-fivo Turkish officers, 42 Germans and 543 Turks of other ran'is, twenty-nine machine-guns, and six motor lorries. We inflicted casualties exceeding ours. King Hcdjaz's forces on May 3 attacked Turkish parties ■working at the Harijerdun rail station northward of Maan, talcing twenty-five prisoners, and seriously damaging the line. '
