FIRE ABOARD A STEAMER.
CAUSED BY LIME. By Telegraph.—'Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A lire was discovered at 9.45 in the. afterhold of the Mararoa, which was at the Ferry Wharf, in the lower tiers of a, consignment of quicklime, loaded in Lyti telton yesterday. A considerable qusuy tity was discharged antaet. The lowoij bags were found to be smouldering,' Loose lime was shovelled into baskets end the hold cleared at noon. There was no-damage. It ig assumed the limei became damaged whilst lying in the' trucks at Lyttelton on Saturday or Sum day, when there was heavy rain tad hail.
