TLUNKET SOCIETY. SUutford, May 7. Tliere was a very good attendance of members of the Stratford branch of the Plr.nket anmial meeting held in the Municipal Chambers yesterday, the Mayor (Mr. J. W. M'Millan) presiding. Apologies for absence were received from the Rev. Father Maples and Messrs -S. Spence, K. Masters, A] E. Abraham, and J. W. Boon. The annual report showed the substantial credit balance of £l3O 15s 3d, which, with the Government subsidy, would 'brine; the total to £255, and thus assured the .'.alary of Nurse Wake for the next year. The nurse was expected to take up her duties on the '2otb inst. The adoption of 1 he'report was formally moved by Mcsdames Budge and Abraham. The Mayor slated, lie desired to congratulate the branch on the excellent results shown by the balancesheet. All admired the work of the society, which aimed at tl;e hotter education of mothers not onlv in regard to Hie rearing of children, he' in the care of them. A tribute v. c- paid to the services of Dr.Trnby Kin? in the same work. Tlis Worship concluded by savin? it was only with the co-operation and earnest working of an organisation such as the Plunket Society that sufficient could be done to place expert advice at the disposal of mothers free of cost.
