ANTI-SHOUTING PROPOSAL. Melbourne, May 2. The progress report of the Senate Committee which is inquiring into the effects of intoxicating liquor on soldiers recommends the introduction of an Anti-Shouting Act on the New Zealand lines, the issue of a distinguishing badge for returned soldiers who are invalids, and legislation prohibiting hotelkeepers supplying drink to returned soldiers who are under medical care. LOYAL LABOR SUPPORTS WAR. Melbourne, May 2. In the Senate, Mr. Gardiner, repudiating statements that the Labor Party favored an immediate peace by negotiation, said the party was in the war to the finish. WAR PENSIONS EXPENDITURE. Melbourne, May 2. The war pensions granted total 109,855, involving an annual expenditure of £3,295,960.
