OKATO. (From Our Own Correspondent). The anniversary of Anac Day was celebrated by a miked (service in (he Hempton Hall. The service, which was presided over by the Kev. King, was opened by singing Litany for our Army and Jfavy, after which Rev. Lilley engaged in prayer. The Rev. Addenbruoke delivered the. address. The Scripture lessons Mere read or Rev. Kiii« and Jjilley from Isaiah, 'gC ch„ 1-9-19--21, verses and Enhesians 0 eh., verses 10-19. The following hymns were sung: "Fight the Good .Fight," "Jesu Lover of My Soul,'-' "Nearer My God to Thee," God of Our Father- at Whose Call." There was a good attendance and the collection,' which amounted to a little over £5 was in aid of the soldiers at the front. On Monday evening a social to welcome Rev. and Mrs. Strand, was held in the Methodist Church. Notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather there was a fair attendance, and a very enjoyable evening was spent. Rev. E. M. King occupied the chair, and, on behalf of the congregation, welcomed the guests of the evening. "Mr. X. C. Henry also, in a neat little speech, on behalf of the Presbyterian Church, extended a very hearty welcome to Mr. and Mrs Strand. Mr. John Pearce, an old veteran, gave a very interesting account of the early days of Methodism in the surrounding district. The following contributed items, which were much appreciated:—Mrs Braxendale, song (encore), Miss Wadsworth. recitation, Mr. Jenkins song (encore), selections by the orchestra., Mrs King recitation. Mrs. Jones song (ecore). Rev. Strand, on behalf of Mrs Strand and himself, thanked the friends for the welcome they had received. After singing the Rational Anthem, refreshments were handed round by the ladies..
