JAPANESE TRADE.
ARRIVAL OF CONSUL-GENERAL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Japanese Consul-General in Australia, the Hon. Seizahuro SlViniizu, arrived on his first official visit to New Zealand. He said lie brought from the people of Japan a message expressing cordial friendship and goodwill towards the people of New Zealand and the sincere hope of his countrymen that th© peaceful commercial relations will continue to grow without hindrance, and that, the two countries may co-operate for the futhpranee of peace throughout the Pacific. Ssmce the outbreak of war Japanese imports into New Zealand had increased five or six times. He emphasised that Japan was not merely seeking an outlet for her own goods but was offering markets for New Zealand products trade between Australia and Japan 'in favor of the former by three to two.
