Mr. John Townley was yesterday reelected chairman of the Gis'borne Harbor Board for the 27th time in succession.Press Association. Mr. W. Olliver has been advised that liis son, Sergeant L. D. Olliver, has been wounded in the left leg and admitted to hospital. Mrs J. F. Batey has received the sad news of the death of her only son, Jack C. M. M., his body having been washed ashore at Dunkirk, Northern France. He leaves a willow and one child. This morning there died at Putiki after a short illness Porokoro Patapu. Deceased, who was well over eighty years was one of the very few surviving' chiefs living locally who took part with the British in the military operations connected with the Maori War on this coast.—Press Association.
