On his return from the North the trainer of Biplanej R. J. Mason, was disinclined to say much regarding the flwapuni Gold Cup incident. He affirms that he took Biplane North with the special object of running him in the Gold Cup, and was just as much disappointed as anyone when it was found impossible to start him owing to a cold. On the second day he had Biplane ready to start in the Manawatu Stakes, but the colt's owner had scratched him unknown to his trainer. Naturally Mason feels the situation very keenly. He expresses the opinion that the incident has not yet reached finality. Tn the meantime Biplane is to be placed on the easy list, as there are no more races for him this season.. Questioned as to the colt's proposed trip to Austraia next spring, Mason replied that, with the existing trouble unsettled, no definite arrangements as to future operations could be formed. Persistent rumours are in circulation in Wellington that on Mr G. W. Greenwood's return from the Awapuni meeting he took legal advice re the action of the Manawatu Racing Club, and it is stated that the may be threshed out in the Supreme Court.
