SHIPMENTS FROM AMERICA. , '! During February the United States j exported 429 tons of grain, cereals, ,/j and tour to the Allies. The shipments j show steady increase from 84,058 tons v|| for the first week to 174,847 for the fourth week. The programme for the • & month of March included 800,000 tons | of foodstuffs. ' : >|j Arrangements have been made to se- '1 cure for the allies 500,000 to 750,000 j bushels of corn daily from the quantlties received on the markets, between ■ 1,500,000 and 2,000,000 bushels daily. : j Committees have been appointed ill' ■;« Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Duluth, s Milwaukee, Omara, Kansas City, etc., to if deal with the matter. •.] The War Trade Board announced an h embargo on shipments of corn to the United States from South America in j order to stimulate the shipment of wheat instead of corn, and thus to obtain the wheat needed by Switzerland * and promised to that country in the re-- - '-i cent agreement.
