DEFENCE COMMISSION.

TOO MUCH CENTRAMSATION By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, last Night. At the afternoon sitting, the Defence Commissioner (Colonel G. J, Smith) said it seemed to hiin that better work could be done in New ■ Zealand if the two camps were concentrated into one. If Trentham must be kept going, he would say the infantry should be concentrated, at Featkerston and the other arms at Trentham. He believed we were not getting value for the money for training in New Zealand. A lot of time was wasted. Authority was too much centralised. He was sure if authority were divided and the battalion system of organisation adopted it would produce greater efficiency. He would urge ten weeks' training' here with two weeks' leave before embarkation Then the men could finish their course in England of four weeks.
