In the hospital report published yesterday the name of V. Chcevcrs (Inglewood) appears i n the list of not severe cases. Onslow John William Mayhew, who is "wanted" in connection with the North Otago murder, was in his hoyhood a pupil of the. Otago High School. He was a sergeant in the Cadets, and winner of the Challenge Cup for shooting, and was also a rectory prefect. After leaving school Mayhew was employed in the National Bank, Clamant. He went to the front, and returned invalided some months ago. On Sunday Dr. Rutherford Waddcli celebrated the thirty-ninth anniversary of his induction to the pastorate of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Dunedin. During the day lie was the recipient of many congratulatory messages and tributes of esteem and gratitude from members of his congregation and others. After the evening service some 280 persons took part in an informal gathering in the Waddell Hall, where, after a few brief speeches, opportunity w«> given for those present personally to greet Dr. Waddell and convey to him their own messages of goodwill. Mr. Thomas Rice fiillman, known as the ''father of Onehunga," died on Monday. Mr. Gillman celebrated the ninetieth anniversary of his birth last July. He arrived in New Zealand In ISO;!, by the ship Annie Wilson, and shortly afterwards settled in Onehunga, where he had resided ever since. Mr. Oillman was the son of a Congregational minister, and became associated with the Onehunga Congregational Church shortly after its inception, acting as church organist, deacon, and treasurer for many years. He is sur- ' vived by his widow, eight children, ' twenty-two grandchildren, and twentyfour great-grandchildren.
