FREE REFRESHMENTS ABOARD.
Y.M.C.A. OS TRAIN WITH AUSTRALIAN SOLDIERS. One of the latest phases of the work of the Y3I.C.A. for Australian soldiers in France is for a Red Triangle truck to be included in the troop trains, who# from free refreshments are supplied to the men on monotonous journeys to the front. Describing this service, one o the military secretaries of the Australian Y.M.C.A. writes: "Our first move to the entraining area meant a march of seven miles, and flip boys were all ready for the lemonade that wits waiting for them at the "Y.M." at our destinati' Water bottles were filled here also for the journey, many hundreds of gallon' of lemonade being given free in this way Following day we entrainwd for the north. One truck was reserved for t' Y.M., and preparations made, in it for supplving the train with drinks at tl l, many dreary stopping places on the v>" Arrived at the detrftini'vr area we had a small buffet built in the station yard and the. next two days an;! nights were spent in supply free to tiie tired and travel-sore troops ' still arriving hot drinks and biscuits. The last few trainloads had to be content with cocot sweetened with golden s.yrup, as we ran out of sugar."
