Received April 22, 7.15 p.m. ' | Rotterdam, April 21. : Incapacitated British officers who have I just returned from Germany rejate instances of terrible cruelty to prisoners. German doctors left dressing an officer's leg for threee weeks. Gangrene resulted and the ln» ia-i te it amputated four times, finai.y being cut. off at the hip. Prisoners sent to salt mines have returned with incurable running sores and mentally and permanently impairedThe majority of the operations are performed without anaesthetics, causing awful torture. Prisoners say the Germans expect the war to end in victory or defeat this year.
