NEW PLYMOUTH FIRE BRIGADE.

MEETING, The annual meeting of the New Plymouth Fire Brigade was held on Tuesday, Superintendent F. C. Bellringer being in the chair. There was a good attendance of members. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet the chairman expressed his pleasure at the finances being in good condition. With the war continuing the ranks of brigades were being depleted. They ha nine members who had enlisted, three having returned- He expressed his disappointment at the poor response of the young men who had not been abi to go to the front and yet refrained from offering their services to the brigade. He touched on the cordial relations existing with the Fire Board which ! had treated the brigade in the hest possible manner. He concluded by expressing a hope that they should be able to give their members at the front an early welcome homeThe election of officers resulted: Superintendent, F. C. Bellringer; subsuperintendent, A. Boon; secretary, H. Txird; treasurer, F. C. Bellringer; central foreman, H. Ford; westeni foreman. J. Johnston; ladder foreman, J. Clark; executive committee, Firemen HInch and A. Courtney; auditors, F. Doughty and W- Way. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Doughty for her work at the station. '

Service bars were presented to Superjintendent Beftringer (33 years) and Foreman Johnston (27 years). A toast, "Ah soik Comrades," and singing "God Savr the King" brought an interesting and pleasant evening to a close the early portion of which was devoted to cards ar billiards.
