GIFT PARCELS FOR SOLDIERS.
. To the Editor. Sr, —The Mayoress will confer an inestimable favor on bewildered would-be senders of gifts to soldiers if she will tell us how she proposes to send IiOO tins of condensed milk to England, in view of the fact that the Imperial (fovernment has forbidden its going. No sugar, butter, milk, soap, cocoa, tobacco ov ! cigarettes (I am not sure about tea.) m;,y be sent. Sir Joseph Ward in the House on Friday said he regretted the embargo on.these things, and would be most willing to remove it. but they had orders from the Imperial Government, and they had to be carried out. There is an impression tl'/'t any o? ll"'.se things may b" sent to soldiers, but such is not the case- If the Chief Postmaster would send the local post offices a complete list of tilings that are no l allowed and this list was put in a conspicuous place it would save much useless questioning and si'ttlc matters once and for all.—l am, etc., HAAVERA.
